Bill Yates' Retirement

Well, after over 32 years at the Naval Air Warfare Center, all but the first eight months being spent in the Radar Reflectivity Laboratory, I pulled the plug. I have enjoyed my work and my friends there and will probably be back on a part-time, as-needed basis as a contractor. I also hope to build web sites for money, instead of for free, do more writing (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and lyrics), and sleep late!

I was fortunate enough to receive the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award, bestowed by CAPT. Bert Johnston, COMNAWCWD, on Monday, October 24, 1999. I got a large, framed certificate, a medal, a "combat ribbon", and a lapel pin. Here's the medal...

Here's the announcement of my farewell luncheon.
