Press Release...FOR RELEASECONTACT: MARY Z. WILSON (805) 649-6866 La Conchita: Remember CDWe are excited to announce the release of a compilation CD of local musicians in memory of those lost in the La Conchita landslide of January 2005 and to help those affected by the slide that are still in need of help. Most of the funds raised will benefit the La Conchita Community Organization, a newly-formed non-profit organization. The CD, produced by Mary Z. Wilson, is a mixed bag of musical talent and mostly original compositions. Steve Baker and J Peter Boles assisted in the project. Acclaimed local artist, Margery Spielman, donated the wonderful aquatic artwork. Liz Bailey donated the gift of graphic arts. David D'Antoni, an aspiring teenage photographer, donated a few photos. Bob Wright and Tre Perry donated mastering of the recording. Ventura Printing did the printing and Groove House Records did the CD duplication. Bill Yates designed a Website at http:www.billyates.com/laconchita that will maintain a current list of locations where the CDs can be found as well as links to musicians and lyrics to the songs. The music on the CD is a wonderful gift to our community by many fine composers and musicians. The recordings are heartfelt and a fine choice to represent the emotional impact of the tragedy. Recordings were donated by: Alan Thornhill, Marty Van Loan, The Tatters, Joe Paquin, David Morgan & the Lama Tribe, Jacob's Ladder, Dan Wilson, Jonathan McEuen, Jonathan Raffetto, Justin Clarke, Jimmy Adams and Friends, Rachel Sedacca, Rabbit MacKay, Jon Wilcox, Marley's Ghost, Julie Christensen & Stone Cupid, and Phil Salazar. Numerous other musicians were involved in each of the cuts and are mentioned on the Website. Most of the musicians knew someone lost in or affected by the tragic slide. At the point of this release, outlets which will carry the CD are: Stir Crazy (Miramonte), Java 33 (Oak View), Ojai House (Ojai), Nautilus Covers (Oxnard), Folk Mote Music (Santa Barbara), Jensen Music (Santa Barbara), Café Coffee Company (Ventura), Café Bella (Ventura), and Salzer's Records (Ventura). There will be a place in Silver Strand and Carpenteria and a few local surf shops yet to be confirmed. Please support this effort and buy La Conchita: Remember (or several). Your donation is tax deductible. They will become a local collector's item to mark an event in the history of our area. |
